Teaching Table

Set out your lesson

Plan and, only with suitable equipment, build a low-voltage closed series circuit.

Activity

Can attend to a short explanation and respond orally, by pointing, drawing or writing; check relevant prerequisite understanding rather than assuming age proves readiness.

Policy

Check readiness rather than assuming age or source graph order establishes attainment.

Materials

Prepared passage, diagram materials are available in each step.

Preparation

Open the teaching material first. Keep the adult key and check sheet separate until their named stage. No printing, purchase or external media is required for the supplied adapted text tasks.

Safety

Only an adult-selected educational low-voltage cell holder and matched components; follow kit instructions. No mains, wall outlets, button cells, loose lithium cells, bare-wire short circuits or disassembly. Adult stops immediately if a component warms; disconnect after use.

Optional Observation

Only record a real observation after the activity is actually carried out safely; otherwise mark not carried out.

Materials are ready in each step. Use them on screen or print just the current step. Put teaching examples aside before the learner tries.

What this lesson covers and its limits

These are bounded opportunities, not learner attainment. Partial and blocked source requirements remain so.

  • blocked: Construct a simple series electrical circuit, identifying and naming its basic parts: cells, wires, bulbs, switches, and buzzers

Exact source demand not established: Real observation/media-dependent evidence remains conditional where required.

  • blocked: Build a complete series circuit that lights a bulb or sounds a buzzer

Exact source demand not established: Real observation/media-dependent evidence remains conditional where required.

  • partial: Name each component: cell (battery), wire, bulb, switch, buzzer

Bounded task opportunity only; this task samples the clause using repeated-application evidence, not full coverage or learner attainment.

  • partial: Explain the role of each component in making the circuit work

Bounded task opportunity only; this task samples the clause using repeated-application evidence, not full coverage or learner attainment.

  • blocked: Can {{name}} build a working circuit with a battery, wires, and a light bulb, and name each part they're using?

Exact source demand not established: Real observation/media-dependent evidence remains conditional where required.

Check understanding

  • Build a complete series circuit that lights a bulb or sounds a buzzer
  • Name each component: cell (battery), wire, bulb, switch, buzzer
  • Explain the role of each component in making the circuit work
“Can your child build a working circuit with a battery, wires, and a light bulb, and name each part they're using?”
