- Step 1. Choose 5 familiar letters and place the uppercase cards face up.
- Step 2. Name each uppercase letter together, then mix the lowercase cards.
- Step 3. Ask your child to name each lowercase letter and place it beside its uppercase match.
- Quick check. Shuffle all 10 cards. Session success means your child names and matches at least 4 of the 5 pairs without hints.
Worked example. Show “A” and say “This is uppercase A.” Find “a” and say “This is lowercase a. They look different, but both are the letter A.”
Optional challenge. Add 5 new letter pairs or ask your child to find an object whose name begins with each matched letter.
What to notice. Save a short note naming the selected letters your child named and matched independently. This session is progress, not full-node mastery: the wider outcome includes all 26 letters in both cases, alphabet order, and spelling-choice language.
