  1. Step 1. Draw a guide box and model 3, 5, and 7 with clear starting points.
  2. Step 2. Have your child trace those models.
  3. Step 3. Your child writes 0 through 9 independently in order.
  4. Step 4. Check each digit for orientation, size, and readability; fix any reversed forms together.
  5. Quick check. Success means your child writes all digits 0–9 once in standard orientation so each digit is readable.

Worked example. A clear 5 is upright and closed correctly. A clear 7 is not mirrored. All ten digits should be readable by someone else.

Optional challenge. Write a short sequence such as 1234 or 7890 with consistent size and correct formation.

What to notice. Save a photo of the 0–9 writing line or a parent note listing any digits that still need practice.

Digits have standard starting points and directions. We want 0–9 readable and not reversed. Model first, trace next, then write independently.

Spend about 15 minutes modeling, tracing, and writing digits 0–9.

Check understanding

  • Write all digits 0-9 clearly with correct starting points
  • Form digits the appropriate size relative to letter height
  • Write numbers legibly so they can be read by others
“When your child writes numbers like 3, 5, and 7, are they formed the right way and clearly readable — not reversed or written in an unusual direction?”
