First, next, and last tell the order things happen. Before and after compare two of those same events. Keep today’s lesson tiny: three home pictures only. Later steps can add yesterday, today, tomorrow, and morning, afternoon, evening on another day.

Spend about 5 minutes lining up three home cards and saying first, next, and last. Stop there for a four-year-old. Optional later steps cover before/after review, day words, and day parts only if energy remains or on another day.
